Australia Day January 26th. A perfect summer's day for Australia Day 2021 at Montville Village Green and our Club's first event for the year. We arrived around 8 am and joined some of the cars already lined up. Hot coffee was popular as was the band of Michael S. The Mapleton Choir entertained the crowd and the two prefects from the Montville State School raised the flag.
Most of us that attended ventured into the Montville Hall for the Australia Day speeches and Citizen of the Year presentation. Others chose to sit under the trees and enjoy a cuppa and a catch-up chat. A great morning was had by all and a big thank you to Des for co-ordinating all the cars for this Australia Day display.

Donnebrook Run 21 st February. There were 14 vehicles and 25 members joining us for this drive to Donnybrook. We drove along Bald Knob Rd. and were rewarded with wonderful clear scenic views of The Glass House Mountains in all their majesty and as we drove through the 'jewel in the crown' of townships on the Sunshine Coast - the metropolis of Peachester!
We arrived at Turner Park, in Beerwah when we looked up to see Chris T. being helped along by some friendly locals. Apparently his MG didn't take too kindly to the heat of the day. Chris and Rosemary took it all in their good stride and joined us for morning tea, before heading back home.
Another meandering 13 km drive through mostly forests and we arrived at Donnybrook. We were very lucky to pounce on a couple of shaded picnic tables and find a grassy area under a big tree for our picnic chairs. The breeze over the water was refreshing after the hot drive and really relaxing. No-one seemed in a hurry to leave and all enjoyed being out in their 'old' cars and socialising.

Kenilworth Cinema 3rd March. Twenty-seven members turned up for our run to the Kenilworth CinemaWorks of ninety-year-old Kevin Franzi. This man devoted his life to Australian cinematography and his two hour presentation took us through the early days right up to the present, including his own contributions.

Then it was off to the Kenilworth Pub for a good old-fashioned pub lunch. There was much socialising over the meals and it was good to see a number of new faces in the group. A big thanks to Lynne B. for arranging an enjoyable day for our club.

ps - two 'old car problems' on the day: Alan L. had a carby problem in the Spitfire, and the Sprite decided it was time for an oil change at Bellbird Creek bends, the oil cooler hose letting go and emptying the sump in the middle of a corner. Everyone survived the slides, and the fire brigade dealt with the mess.

Caloundra S & S. 11th April. Our Club was invited by the Dickey Beach Surf Club to display vehicles at the Caloundra Country Market. Twenty six members provided vehicles which attracted much interest and contributed to a larger than usual crowd at the market day. Members were rewarded with a morning tea voucher.

Seniors Day 12th April. Our Club entertained a group of twenty Maleny Senior Citizens for morning tea at the Clubhouse, followed by a tour of the local environs in Club vehicles. This is an annual event and is a pleasure for all involved.

Gympie Museum 5th May. A beautiful morning greeted all members who participated in the rally as we travelled up the M1 to Gympie. It was great to see Chris in his Model A truck and Ross in his ever reliable Plymouth. On arrival at the museum we enjoyed morning tea and a chat prior to the tour. Our hosts Sue and Col did an in depth presentation of the founding and the history of the museum and its displays. Great interest was shown in the steam engine that drove the saws. Once the tour finished we all headed off to the Gympie RSL for an enjoyable lunch and camaraderie amongst the members.

Maleny Show 28th - 29th May. It was a busy two days for the Club when the Maleny Show hit the town. Apart from the 'park n ride' duties at the Clubhouse, there was our usual contribution of cars for the display at the Showground. This year our Club was represented by only a handful of vehicles, as most members were committed elsewhere. However, we combined with our friends from the Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club to give the Show patrons an interesting display. It was good to chat with the SCACC people, as well as answering many questions from the general public. We experienced a bumper crowd under a sunny sky. Thanks to the many volunteers who happily told the many show-goers where to go.

Mt. Glorious 2nd June. This was a faster, longer run and took us along some really spectacular road that a number of our members had never seen before. A good rollup and nice weather. It was good to see Phil and Yvonne again in the mighty Porsche after a long absence, and this time we were even joined by a trio of Harley Davidsons headed by Bill. We were ably led by Verona in the MGB GT, and she was obviously enjoying the twisty bits! Thanks Verona. Morning tea was at Kilcoy down beside the tranquil duck pond, then it was along the shores of Lake Somerset, then via the Fernvale road and up the steep winding road to the Mount Glorious township. The mountain is 625 metres above sea level and the air is crisp up there. As the temperature dropped, we wound our way through tall eucalypts, with lush rainforest at the very top. A stunning drive. Our venue for lunch was Maiala Park, part of the D'Aguilar National Park and carved out of the forest. There are many walking tracks in the area, but not enough time to check them out, maybe another day. All in all a nice club day out, topped off by a beer at the iconic Dayboro Hotel at the end of the day, and finally the run over Mt Mee to Woodford. Thanks everyone for your good company on a day to remember.

Sweethearts, Eudlo 9th June. All the happy characters of our club take brekkie time to enjoy each others company and friendship, as well as a good meal.

Camel Dairy Glasshouse 7th July. The morning started at the BRHCC clubhouse and we headed off at 8.45am sharp with John L. at the lead. The run took the Maleny Stanley River Road then Peachester Rd. to Beerwah and then we headed west on to the QCamel farm. After parking we were given an orientation of the farm and then shown how they milk their camels. We were then presented with morning tea and the chance to taste some of the camel products and soak in the Glasshouse Mountains scenery behind the camels, including watching a 2-week old baby still white in colour. A great time was had by all and the camels loved the attention

Boreen Pt./ Lake Cootharaba 4th August. After a bout of cold, windy wet weather (ie winter), Sunday dawned bright and beautiful. It was off to Boreen Point for a picnic by the lake, with a morning tea stop at Yandina on the way. Numbers were down when we left the clubhouse, due to the cool temperature I guess, but it was great to see a good number of other members waiting for us at the park in Yandina. As usual, there was much socialising as we gradually thawed out in the sunshine. Eventually we ran out of things to say, hopped back into our cars and hit the road to Eumundi, this time with Verona in the lead. Through the iconic township of Eumundi and up the Range Road to Cooroy. What a nice stretch of road, and looking superb after the rain.
At Pomona we joined Louis Bazza Drive, and wheeled in to Boreen Point with our pretty impressive convoy of cars. Along the shores of Lake Cootharaba to the day picnic area by the water. Sheltered from the cool southerly wind, under a clear blue sky, we all enjoyed each other's company in a beautiful setting.

Bunya Mountains 23-25 July. We had seven couples roll up on another perfect but chilly morning in Maleny, with everyone keen to get underway. On our arrival at Kingaroy, surprise, surprise, all were dry but a little cold. Instead of travelling via the highway to Kilcoy, Bill Mc. took us on a detour to Woodford, turning right onto Neurum Road, which took us past the Woodford Correctional Centre, through Villeneuve, Mt Archer township and back out onto the Woodford-Kilcoy Road.
Our first stop was Yowie Park Kilcoy for morning tea. Phil and Jennifer H. surprised everyone with their little gas burner and kettle neatly stored in a box (no bigger than a shoe box) that Phil had made many years ago when they travelled throughout South Africa. After our cuppa we headed off to Blackbutt for lunch. We all enjoyed a wander around the little township, some visiting the Roy Emmerson Museum, Art Gallery and the bakery. As we left Blackbutt the Weather Gods decided it was time to release a bit of moisture. We who were fortunate enough to be travelling with a roof over our heads stayed nice and dry, not so for Phil and Jennifer we all thought, who braved the elements in their Morgan with the hood down, wind in their hair, carefree of the weather conditions.
After a wander around the information centre our throats were getting very dry so we all headed to the Kumbia Pub for an ale or two. We arrived at Bunya Mountains, settled into our accommodation and welcome drinks and nibbles were at Unit 1 where Les Begbie had the pot-belly fire roaring and toasty warm.
Saturday morning we all headed off to Dusty Hill Winery for coffee and cake. Dinner was at Lyric Restaurant where we caught up with Ronnie Brown and other members of the VACC who were there also for the weekend. We also tuned our vocal chords to sing a very Happy Birthday to Lynne Begbie.
Sunday morning we all braved the freezing cold winds that were coming off the Antarctic and we went to view the markets which opened at 9am. But we, brave-hearted marketeers, were all back in warm Unit 1 by 9.15am.
We all enjoyed our early lunch stop at the Kingaroy Pottique Lavender Farm where we all sat together in the lovely warm sunshine out of the wind. A great weekend of fun, food, camaraderie and old cars was had by all.

Somerset Dam 1st Sept.

Mapleton Forest 19th Sept.

Montville Country Run 9-10th October. Day 1. Maleny-Mapleton- Eudlo. The big event had finally arrived, with a prediction of perfect spring weather. On the previous evening, participants were briefed and supplied with neccessary rally pack whilst enjoying a sumptuous afternoon tea, and we welcomed visitors from the Maryborough Vintage Car Club and the Qld. Vintage Vehicle Club.
Prior to the 9 am starting of engines, a hot breakfast was provided at the Clubhouse, followed by a further briefing.
The 20 km run to Mapleton Lilyponds park for smoko was uneventful but there were some frustrations with limited parking. Then it was onwards to Eudlo State School for a luncheon provided by the School committee. This section of the rally involved some interesting driving for the veteran vehicles on various roads, but was incident free. The final leg of the day was return to the Clubhouse via Landsborough and the Mount Mellum road which also provided a test of driving skills and vehicles for some.
Overall, the 26 vehicles covered 87 km with only a couple of minor mechanical incidents - a commendable outcome. It was then time for a quick change of attire to participate in the evenings activities at Tranquil Park resturant.

Tranquil Park Dinner. Forty three Members and Guests partook of the Saturday night "Bushies" theme festivities. The evening commenced with a welcoming speech, followed by the meal courses. Afterwards was the presentation of trophys for the various vehicle catergories, and then drawing of the five raffles. We thank the various sponsors and the staff of Tranquil Park for an enjoyable evening.

Day 2. Maleny - Beerwah - Pattmore House. The second day of the rally began in similar fashion with breakfast and briefing. The first leg was a run to Turner Park at Beerwah for morning smoko via Old Gympie Rd. and a roundabout route through Glasshouse - fairly easy driving for all. The next run back to Pattemore House Maleny for an organised luncheon, was more demanding, through Peachester, Commissioners Flat Rd. and the steep and winding Nomus Rd. - Bellthorpe Range Rd. 'track' to the top of the range near Booroobin.
The luncheon and organised activities at Pattemore were a relaxation appreciated by all. The distance run for the day was 94 km.

Epilogue. The Montville Country Run dates from 1993 and was traditionally held as a biennial event but had lapsed in recent years. BRHCC plans to restore the Run to the events calendar, so make a date for October 2023. This year's event owes its success to the efforts of the organising committee, to the generous sponsors and to all who participated.

Peachester Heritage Centre 17th October. Eighteen vehicles and twenty six members made the most of the perfect spring weather for this outing led by John R. First stop was the Heritage Centre, where we elected to have smoko on arrival, during which time Centre personnel gave a summary of its history and operations. Staff were most informative and the displays are very well presented with particular emphasis on the areas timber heritage.
We then moved to the nearby property of Doug & Jenny B. for luncheon and a few hours of relaxation and polite conversation. Doug operates a macadamia plantation bounded by the Stanley River headwaters which provides both scenery and solitude. An added treat was Jenny's cheese cake. Members were unanimous in agreement that we had an excellent day out and appreciated the hospitality.
